Back in November of 2006 Nintendo unveiled the motion-sensing game system known as the Wii and in the process opened up gaming to a whole new audience. Video games have long been the domain of young males, a demographic that accounts for the majority of game system and video game sales. But with the Wii’s revolutionary stick-like wand controller many new users came on board to give it a try and Nintendo cashed in like never before seeing three straight years of record profits that finally slowed in March of 2009. During that time gaming competitors Sony and Microsoft have been busy designing their own motion-sensing game systems and used the recent E3 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles to announce their product launch dates.
Restoration druids are my personal favorite healing class in World of Warcraft for a few reasons. Number one, they are very mana efficient due to the way their HOTs (healing over time spell) work. Number two, they have many different spells which have their own niche. Number three, everyone loves a good resto druid.
You will always hear healers talk about their mana regeneration because mana is their resource. If you run out of mana, you can’t cast heals, and people die. Some classes, like Holy Paladins, have to stack nothing but mana regeneration to make sure they have the mana to last the entire encounter. Restoration druids on the other hand can afford to allocate gem slots for other things, such as spell power and haste, which makes them more customizable. Another thing that contributes to their great mana efficiency is the way their healing spells work. The majority of a resto druid’s arsenal consists of healing over time spells, which means not all of the healing is done at once but over a short time. Because of this, the way a druid handles large consistent damage isn’t by spamming their biggest heal but rather stacking more HOTs on the target. The reason this is more mana efficient than other healers is because druids can take a “cast it and forget it” style allowing them to regain more mana during the time not casting.
